Lately we have been swamped. Totally overwhelmed in fact. You may not have noticed it but most of us have been, particularly in recent months. We are drowning in a sea of fake or fictional statistics (‘fictistics’ as I like to call them), unfounded … Continue reading

The Senate Vote Against Limited Background Checks for Gun Sales Is A Disgrace And A Screw You To Every Dead Child In Newtown And Beyond
It’s a depressingly familiar story. Massively funded lobbyist ensures policy decisions go in its favour through the ‘bribery’ of politicians – even when an overwhelming majority of the population cry out for change because the effect of the current policy … Continue reading
The Daily Mail’s record of misleading readers over health issues isn’t funny (video)
The Daily Mail has a rather haphazard and nonchalant approach to reporting the results of research and statistical data in general. This would be laughable if it was not potentially so dangerous. I was reminded of this gloomy fact in the early hours of this … Continue reading
You know that they’re racist when….. they accuse YOU of “playing the race card” (video)
President Obama made a few “impromptu remarks” a week or so ago following the controversial verdict that saw black teenager Trayvon Martin‘s caucasian killer acquitted in Florida. As you can hear on the video, his comments were considered, reflective and looked to … Continue reading
Irrational debate and a misinformed public: things we don’t have to learn from America (video)
It is said that what happens in the US happens in the UK shortly afterwards. This clip of the Daily Show was broadcast in August 2011 and touches on many of the same arguments used by the Conservative Party in the … Continue reading

Fox News hates the US constitution (video)
Fox News says that the US Constitution is a sacrosanct and immutable document – at least it is when talking about gun control. Fox News numpties are very quick to quote sections of the 2nd Amendment whenever there is another mass shooting or … Continue reading
Faisal Islam’s (not) looking for answers
One of the major problems with having politicians who seem to lie at will (as if that wasn’t enough to be going on with) is the inability of some of our foremost news journalists to confront them when they take a holiday from the facts or … Continue reading
Proof beyond reason – for Euro-sceptics is there any amount of evidence that would be enough?
Despite the fact that most of the public were distracted by the “Baby Cambridge” sideshow of the last 72 hours some people were clearly spending their time stewing over the release of the first part of the EU competence review and understandably so. … Continue reading
Make It Stop — Congressman Grimm
I’m not a huge fan of the DCCC but they have a point about the GOP controlled congress obstinately refusing to represent the people by actually doing some work!
Note to GOP: Repeatedly voting to repeal Obamacare and doing nothing else does not count as representing the American people!
Text & Video From DCCC
With Speaker John Boehner bragging about his broken Congress this weekend, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched an online ad campaign telling Congressman Michael Grimm to stop being part of the problem.
On Face the Nation this weekend, Speaker Boehner said that Congressman Grimm and his Republican colleagues should be “judged on how many laws we repeal.” In practice, the House Republicans’ All-Repeal Agenda has created unparalleled gridlock — not jobs — and Congressman Grimm is part of the problem of a dysfunctional Congress.
“Americans want jobs, not a partisan, all-repeal agenda from Congressman Michael Grimm that hurts the middle class,” said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “If this gridlock and partisanship don’t stop, Americans will judge Congressman Grimm not on how many laws Washington Republicans repealed, but on whether he stood up for everyday Americans against the broken Congress — and right now Congressman Grimm is failing.”
Eurosceptics & UKIP grateful for baby talk distraction as Tory review into EU powers comes up with ‘wrong’ answer
You may have missed it with all non-news around yesterday but the government quietly released the first part of its noisily conceived EU Competences Review. And guess what? It came out broadly in favour of the status quo! Peter Bone was livid … Continue reading

Cameron’s a congo bongo if he thinks banning words will help to stop child abuse (video)
David Cameron’s re-election strategy requires him to keep the Daily Mail editor and, by extension, the majority of the Mail’s engorged readership, acquainted with how he’s just an ordinary bloke who happens to be fighting their corner as PM. He achieves … Continue reading
