Bryn Estyn, Oxford, Rochdale and now Cyril Smith but still no public inquiry (video)

“During his lifetime Cyril Smith was one of the UK’s best-known politicians. But a new investigation shows that security services held on to a file with evidence of the Liberal MP’s child abuse.”

Two months ago I published a post which asked why, given the number of cases of organised child abuse against children in care homes across the UK, no public inquiry had been proposed by this government into the issue.

And they are not the only ones....

And they are not the only ones…. (Image: The Sun)

Now, with the revelations by Dispatches about Cyril Smith, another children’s home and an alleged cover up by the police, security services and political leaders, I repeat that question:

WHERE IS THE PUBLIC INQUIRY INTO ORGANISED PAEDOPHILE RINGS THAT ABUSE CHILDREN WHO ARE SUPPOSEDLY BEING CARED FOR AND PROTECTED BY THE STATE ?

About the Jillings Report:

Published on 8 Jul 2013

A report written 17 years ago, has finally been published, identifying long-term “extensive” abuse at children’s homes in north Wales during the 1970s through to the 1990s.

Abuse allegations at several children’s homes, including the former Bryn Estyn home in Wrexham, emerged in the 1990s. An inquiry by John Jillings was carried out in 1996 but shelved due to fears there would be compensation claims.

The 300-page report was initially written in 1996 after it was commissioned by the former Clwyd County Council, which covered the areas now represented by Flintshire, Denbighshire and Wrexham councils.
