Max Clifford is a serial sex offender and his youngest victim was just twelve years old. On Friday (2nd May) he was sentenced to eight years in prison which means it is likely that he will be released in just four years. Sentencing guidelines require judges to base their decision on the tariff that was relevant when the crimes were committed, in Clifford’s case that is up to 30 years ago. If his crimes had been more recent, Clifford would have faced a potential life sentence – a punishment that this blogger believes would have been fully justified.
