“For nearly all of Jon Stewart’s opening segment on his final Monday night Daily Show it seemed as if Donald Trump would be left entirely unmentioned. That’s because this time the target of the host’s scorn was this past weekend’s “Koch primary” in which five candidates not named Trump vied for the Koch brothers’ promised $900 million in 2016 spending.
After blasting Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and others for unabashedly suckling at the Koch teat, Stewart found himself inadvertently echoing the message of the man he spends so much time mocking.
“Who is this Trump fella?” Stewart asked. “I like the cut of his jib.”
