Stephen Colbert warns Bernie voters about a split vote and what kids think about the presidential race (video)

It is now almost certain that Bernie Sanders will lose the Democratic nomination for US president. Hillary Clinton is way ahead of Bernie on delegates and could gallop over the winning line at the next primary, she is also almost 2 million ahead in the popular vote. Nonetheless, Sanders is steadfast in his view that he should fight on all the way to the Democratic convention in July and is even considering an offer from the Green Party to run as a third-party presidential candidate in November.

This could be disastrous for the Democrats and America. In 2000, the Democratic vote was split in a several States, including the crucial Florida vote, by Ralph Nader who ran as an independent. The votes Nader collected would almost certainly have gone to the official Democrat nominee Al Gore, who would then have won Florida and the Presidency, but instead the sunshine state went to George W Bush, and the rest, as they say, is history.
